Happy mother's day to all the mothers out there! This morning I was awakened by surprise by my children, who were so excited to tell me "Happy Mother's Day." Ernest presented me with gifts while I was still half asleep: the letter above, and a paper flower and a wind chime that he had made at school. Elizabeth was a little upset that she could not find the present that she had made for me at school, but whispered into my ear constantly how much she loved me and wishing me a "Happy Mother's day." I'm reminded today that I'm not only a preacher, but a mother of two beautiful children growing in height, as well as faith. On this mother's day, I'm thankful for my mother who has brought me thus far. Moreover, I am thankful that I have two beautiful children that I can help raise to be God's faithful disciples and pass on the legacy that my mother has passed on to me. It's not easy being a mother in today's society when women are in the work force along with our spouses as well. I struggle with this balance every day. However, mothers are strong people, aren't we? I sometimes wonder, where all that strength came for me to keep going. I know that with God's help, we can continue to be mothers who can care for our children and share the great legacy of faith. It is my prayer that all of you mothers out there will be praised like the woman in Proverbs 31:28: "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." Once again, Happy Mother’s Day! P.S. I just got this from Elizabeth:

My favorite part of Ernest's letter is that he said, "because she is good." What a wonderful, true statement for a child to make. I don't see any other way he could have risen called you blessed at his age than by what he said. And as far as Elizabeth goes, watch out if she tries to make you breakfast next year! Hmm, syrup!
